Baker Tilly Central Africa continues to expand its regional network.

Baker Tilly Central Africa continues to build its local network with the addition of ALMOHT Chartered Accountants in Malawi, expanding its geographic footprint to include Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia and now Malawi.

Effective immediately, ALMOHT Chartered Accountants will commence trading as Baker Tilly.

“Africa plays an ever-increasing role in our members’ international business engagements,” explained Ted Verkade, Baker Tilly network CEO.

Baker Tilly Malawi

“Malawi is an interesting emerging country. Its president recently launched the country’s second long-term national development plan that aims to make Malawi an inclusively self-reliant industrialised upper-middle income country by the year 2063 – and that brings opportunities for businesses operating in the SADC region. Growing our presence into Malawi ensures we have the expertise in place now to help our clients prepare to take advantage of future opportunities as the country’s development plan comes to fruition.”

Phibion Gwatizdo, Chair of Baker Tilly Central Africa and member of the network’s International Board said: “I am excited to be welcoming Baker Tilly in Malawi into our Central African network. Over the last 12 months, we have embarked on an aggressive growth strategy that has seen us welcome HR consulting specialist LoriMak and full service commercial and corporate law practice Mundia & Mudhara to our local network. The addition of a branded firm in Malawi allows us to further expand both our service capabilities and geographic footprint to better support clients who are ready to take advantage of opportunities within Malawi and the wider SADC region. Furthermore, the firm has an ambitious growth strategy that perfectly aligns with that of Baker Tilly Central Africa.”

Alfred Lungu, Managing Partner of Baker Tilly in Malawi added: “We are extremely pleased to be part of the Baker Tilly network, both locally here within Central Africa and globally. Being part of a globally recognised brand and the international relationships, capabilities and support that brings, will allow us to continue to support our clients now, as they build for their tomorrow.”
